My daily go-to

I've had my pen for a while now and it's the only pen that I like to use as much as my Muji fine tips. It writes smoothly and the ink is controlled. I've never had an issue with leaking, it's a great size, and the inks are fun and easy to swap out. If you're new to fountain pens this is a great place to start!

Great Little Pocket Pen

I admit I hadn't thought much of these fountain pens until I bought a classic green one from Tigertree. I've collected fountain pens for a couple of years now and never felt the need to add a Kaweco to my modest group. But I really loved visiting Tigertree when I lived in Columbus, so I bought a Kaweco to support them. And it is a classy little pen. The nib is nicely branded for the company, it feels very solid in the hand, and it puts down a nice line. It starts every time I put it to paper and it gives just a little feedback. It is a bit short without the cap on the back of the pen (unposted), but posted it is nicely balanced. It came with a cartridge that I refilled with red ink and I use the pen for editing. No wonder my pen mentor had pounds of Kawecos pens. I highly recommend them for a great everyday fountain pen.

Where’s the ink?

I received a pen as a gift tonight. It would be fun to try it out but there was no ink provided. Now what?

A Geologists View

The Kaweco Sport Fountain Pen is a delightful bit of work.

There are those who collect fountain pens, and those who use them. I am a user. I have cast about for the best pen to use in the field for decades. Expensive pens are rarely that useful. Its affordable, practical workhorses like the Kaweco Sprot Fountain Pen.

This little pen has some great features. Its light so you can write for long periods. The cap screws on rather than snaps. This means the cap wont pop off in your pocket and stain your clothing with ink. The barrel is not round in cross section, but octagonal The flat surfaces keep it from rolling away. The cap and barrel over lap enough to make the pen a nice compact little package to slip in your pocket.

The pen comes with a cartridge These are handy - and can be bought in a variety of colors - but Kaweco also makes converters for the pen. A converter is a bit like a cartridge thats re-fillable. It is a tube that fits in the place of the cartridge with a piston that pulls ink up into it. The pen requires a smaller than standard converter. This will let you experiment with bottled ink -which is a bit like craft beer - infinite variety and fun to explore.

I highly recommend this little gem.
