Employment

Our sister store Cub Shrub is looking for a kind, curious, and passionate Manager to help grow our joyful kids' shop. We've built close relationships with our customers over the years and love creating a salon-style space where new parents, families, and gift-givers can connect, share stories, and find community.

We share a spacious, sun-filled storefront with our sister shop Tigertree, so the right person will enjoy being part of a larger team while keeping the unique spirit of Cub Shrub shining bright.

What You'll Do

  • Lead and support the Cub Shrub team, helping each team member reach their fullest potential

  • Oversee daily operations including opening and closing, merchandising, and inventory management

  • Create a welcoming space that encourages connection and conversation

  • Plan and host in-store events that celebrate fun, learning, and community

  • Collaborate with the General Manager and the Tigertree team to keep our shared space running smoothly

  • Help with hiring, training, and coaching

  • Keep the shop organized, playful, and full of great finds

Who You Are

  • Outgoing, warm, and naturally great with people of all ages

  • Organized and detail oriented without losing sight of the big picture

  • Excited to lead a team and foster a positive, creative atmosphere

  • Comfortable juggling multiple responsibilities in a lively environment

  • Adaptable and flexible to changing priorities, with a continuous-improvement mindset

  • Computer-proficient - adaptable to learning, maintaining, and troubleshooting across multiple software systems we use in our day-to-day workflow

  • Passionate about building community and helping customers find joy in small moments

  • Retail management experience is a plus, but strong leadership in hospitality or other customer-focused settings is just as valuable

  • You possess the "how hard can it be" gene, never letting lack of knowledge keep you from finding a solution to tough challenges

What Will Set You Apart

  • Foundational knowledge in child development

  • Retail experience in a children's department or kid-focused store

  • Experience developing, training, and coaching a team of 4+

  • Flexibility to cover call-outs to support business needs (rare)

  • Sharp numeracy skills, accurately handling the numerical aspects of retail, from basic transactions to sales analysis

  • Availability to work most Saturdays

  • Experience with Ecom, specifically Shopify

Why You'll Love It Here.

Cub Shrub is part of a long-running, family-owned retail group that believes great stores make great neighborhoods. You'll have the freedom to help shape the way we serve our customers and connect with the community. You'll have a set schedule and will never have to worry about working overtime!

If you love people, creativity, and the magic of independent retail, this might be your happy place. Our starting pay range for this hourly position is $22-24/hour, commensurate with experience. Benefits TBD during interview.

Email us with your resume in PDF format to morgan@shoptigertree.com. Please include a cover letter in your own unique voice letting us know how your past experiences and skills will translate well into this role. If you do not have all of the listed qualifications but still believe you could bring excellence to this role, please apply anyway! We do not have a hiring timeline for this role, we would rather take the time to find the Laverne to our Shirley, the Calvin to our Hobbes, the Frog to our Toad... etc. etc... (you get it)!
